Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) is a labeling law that requires retailers, such as full-line grocery stores, supermarkets and club warehouse stores, to notify their customers with information regarding where in the world (literally) their foods came from. These COOL produce labels keep your customers happy and in the know.The food products covered by the law include a variety of different meat and produce items. These items are listed below:Muscle cut and ground meats: lamb, goat, and chickenWild and farm-raised fish and shellfishFresh and frozen fruits and vegetablesPeanuts, pecans, and macadamia nutsGinsengThe law was put into place on August 1st of 2008. However, there was an uproar from companies that this law should be deleted, and so it was. However, the law is still in place in certain places and may be necessary when it comes to importing food from other countries and going through customs.
